NYDISnet Became iNET

This winter, New York Disaster Interfaith Services released our last issue of NYDISnet, our bi-monthly electronic newsletter and recovery resource. From 2004 through 2008 NYDIS published over 100 issues, including dozens of NYDISnet Alerts, to over 8000 subscribers in metro New York City and around the nation.

In December 2008, as NYDIS restructured its leadership and programming, the Board of Directors made the decision to partner with the National Disaster Interfaiths Network (NDIN) to manage our training and resource capacities. Therefore, beginning later this month, NYDISnet recipients will start receiving iNET – a free, monthly electronic newsletter. iNET will provide U.S. disaster news, reports on the latest best practices, and information on upcoming conferences and trainings of relevance to faith-based disaster human service agencies, interfaith long-term recovery organizations, and disaster chaplaincy and spiritual care providers across the country.

NDIN is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization led by a national volunteer board and program staff. NDIN is a national network of interfaith human service and long-term recovery organizations who work together to reduce disaster-caused human suffering through the exchange of information and cooperative support.

We hope you use this new newsletter as a tool to keep yourself and your organization or network informed regarding domestic disaster efforts. If you have questions about any information in iNET, or if you have news or events that you want to submit, please contact our editor at editor@n-din.org.

Happy Reading!
Peter B. Gudaitis, M.Div.
Executive Director, NYDIS
