Music “Memorial For Us All” Series: Remembering Lives Lost to Covid-19

This series begins this Sunday, May 3 at 6:00 p.m. and will run for the following three Sundays streamed by Lincoln Center and its multi-faith partners on all social media platforms.

NYDIS has collaborated with Lincoln Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Interfaith Center of New York, the New York Board of Rabbis, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, Union Theological Seminary, and the Center Faith-Based and Community Partnerships, NYC Office of the Mayor, to sponsor the Memorial For Us All online memorial concert series, debuting with and original composition written and performed by Wynton Marsalis.

In the midst of this global COVID-19 pandemic, this collaboration has come together to honor the lives of those lost to this terrible virus. During each weekly performance, the names and of COVID-19 victims will be displayed in memoriam. In order to honor those lives, we invite you to share with us the name, age, and city (or borough) of residence, for any family or friends who have died from the coronavirus.

You are invited, with the consent of immediate family, to submit in memoriam names to info@nydis.org, please include their prefix, first and last names, age, and city (or borough). Submissions for this Sunday’s concert must be received by Wednesday, April 29 at 12:00 pm.

In the midst of this global pandemic, lies New York City, its current epicenter. Most traditional rituals the human family holds dear are not possible, currently. As we find our footing in this temporary reality, our collaboration has enlisted New York City artists and come together with one of our most treasured cultural institutions, Lincoln Center, to offer these weekly memorials. Music unlocks thoughts, feelings, our souls, and the memories that unite and free us. These memorials will allow music to begin to heal us, as it has done since the beginning of human history.

Whether alone, as a family, congregation, or work colleagues, we hope you will join us, as a community in mourning, by watching the Memorial For Us All performance series – and, in keeping all have lost a loved one or otherwise been directly affected by COVID-19 in your prayers.
