Puerto Rico Recovery Project 3 – Three Kings

In January 2019, NYDIS and our #PaLantePR partner, actress and activist Luna Lauren Velez, visited relief, rebuild and potential project sites in Añasco.

1) An $800 two room temp home – next to the temp home occupied by their special needs family members. NYDIS’ Pa’Lante Puerto Rico project with Luna Lauren Velez funded the rebuilding done by Stronger Than Maria. The families now have permits and FEMA funds to rebuild on safer farmable land.

2) A home completed by a local Mennonite rebuild team and awaiting a painting crew we hope to provide.

3) The first solar well system in Puerto Rico – located in Corcovada, Añasco, Puerto Rico. It was up and running within 48 hours after Maria hit. The Presbyterian Church and others recently funded improvements and expansion of the solar panels and battery storage. The number of homes served has expanded and we are advocating for replicating the system to neighboring small mountain communities.
